Onion prices were on the rise for several days, although onion prices have been falling but again rumors have been spread over the country of rising salt prices. The rumor has been spread in Nurnagar Bazar of Shamnagar upazila. Salt is an essential product of humankind. Since Tuesday afternoon, the price of salt has increased three to five times and is being sold at a hundred taka kg. Traders say, when rumors of a rise in the price of salt from the capital Dhaka spread to people in the area, the shopkeepers increased the price of salt when they were hired to buy extra salt. Traders added that rumors have been selling record quantities of salt ever since. Shamnagar Upazila Assistant Land Nahid Hassan Khan visited the market at nine o'clock in the night, and he informed the people that the shopkeeper would sell us the salt price and inform us that we will take legal action against them.
